3 Arkansas Hiking Trails with Waterfalls

While Arkansas has hundreds of hiking trails sprawling with natural beauty and wildlife, there are three hiking trails with waterfalls you wouldn't want to miss. Bridal Veil Falls, Hemmed-In-Hollow Falls, and Sweden Creek Head offer something for everyone. Whether you're planning your introductory hike or looking for a challenging trek, find out more about each trail below.

Bridal Veil Falls

Bridal Veil Falls, located in Heber Springs, is a popular hiking trail in Arkansas as it is one of the easier ones anyone can enjoy. This beautiful hiking trail is also open year-round and welcomes dogs on leashes.

With a short trek, you will reach a wooden deck with a breathtaking view of the falls. Bridal Veil Falls also has a second hiking trail of about half a mile to the bottom of the falls, which is particularly magnificent after heavy rain.

This trail is a little trickier, though nothing you can't do with a pair of quality hiking boots and bug spray, but it is worth the journey.

Hemmed-In-Hollow Falls

Hemmed-In-Hollow Falls is the tallest waterfall between the Rockies and Appalachian mountains, at 200 feet. Be prepared to break a sweat on this six-mile hiking trail with strenuous and steep terrain. This difficult hiking trail is an excellent challenge for experienced hikers, but still, take your time and be careful.

Hemmed-In-Hollow Falls is one of the most frequent Search & Rescue locations, as lack of preparation can lead to dehydration, exhaustion, and more.

Bring a map, as there won't be any cell service; wear the appropriate gear, pack enough water, and be careful. However, once you set your eyes on the dramatic waterfall and all its wild beauty, every drop of sweat will be worth it.

Sweden Creek Head

Rounding up this list of Arkansas hiking trails with waterfalls, Sweden Creek Head is a perfect blend of Bridal Veil Falls and Hemmed-In-Hollow Falls. Sweden Creek Head is about a 2-mile hike with an 80-foot-high waterfall as your incentive.

Seasoned hikers can take the moderately challenging lower trail with rockier and narrower terrain. However, all your hard work throughout the journey will be rewarded with stunning views of smaller waterfalls along the way.

Whether you're new to hiking or consider yourself an enthusiast, Arkansas is the perfect location for this outdoor activity as it is sprawling with beautiful trails suitable for everyone.
